.......

Rebozo is a shawl used in the Central American tradition for many purposes, and it’s a vital companion of the woman in her life cycles. With a rebozo the woman’s body is moved rhythmically to achieve balancing effects like in a massage during the pregnancy, in the birth and at the postpartum period. Rebozo is also a garment and used for babywearing, ceremonial purposes and traditional medicine to name a few.

Measures:

Around 2.8m long (+fringes)

Roughly 68-75 cm / 26.8 inch wide

Fringe in the ends

Can be machine washed.

Washing instruction:

Wash at least once before use.

  • Preferably 40 Celsius Degrees
  • Soft program/Delicate wash
  • Mild Soap
  • Dry in Shade
  • Tie the fringes together to avoid tangling/ Use a wash bag (Or use a sock to protect them)
  • No bleach, Preferably no tumble dry

NOTE: Handwoven rebozos might contain some weavers knots, pulls or other signs about handwork. Slight changes in color or size might also occur due the change in the thread lots and as the wraps are handmade by various artisans. Each rebozo, in the end, is an unique piece.

I live in the Macedon Ranges on Taungurung country and serve families on Djadjawurrung, Taungurung and Woiworung countries. I humbly pay my respects to the people of all of the Kulin nations, particularly the Elders, past, present and emerging, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which I live, work and play. There has been no Treaty with the First Nations people of these areas and the effects of colonisation continue to this day. This always was, and always will be Aboriginal land. I honour the traditional caretakers of these lands, waterways and skies.
